Annual Reviews

A quote from a parent, following a recent annual review...
"Since my daughter has been at Mill Water School, it is the best thing to happen to her educationally, it has had a massive impact on home-life too. At Mill Water School her needs are being met and she is thriving. Being in the right setting changes lives. Because she is settled, I am more settled and less stressed too. She can't wait to get on the bus in the morning. I can't tell you how grateful I am and it has changed our lives so wonderfully. I have never looked forward so much to an annual review."

Devon County Council have now launched the new EHC Hub. This is the system we will now use to manage Education, Health and Care Requests, Assessments and Reviews in Devon.

    • Parents/Carers will receive emails that invite them to Annual Reviews, prompts them to contribute their views, shares professionals reports and advice provided for reviews, and shares the finalised report and LA decision notice to maintain/amend/cease a EHCP.
    • Parents/Carers and Professionals can log in at any time.
    • All the information provided in the assessment and annual review will be in the system for parent/carers to look at.
    • Online help will be available.
    • Parent/carers will still be able to contact their SEN case worker by phone or email.
    • Parent/carers will be able to get help and advice for using this system from the Education Systems Team in DCC.

We will start to use the Hub for reviews in September. You will receive an email via the Hub to invite you and professionals involved with your child to the review. You will need to create a login, which will allow you to access your child's information at any time. It is important that school has each parent/carers current email address. You will no longer receive Annual review paperwork in hard copy unless you advise us that you are unable to access the Hub.

Rearranging dates and times of Annual Reviews is extremely difficult. Whilst we try to make every effort to give you advanced notice to attend, should you be unavailable we may have to go ahead with the Review in your absence, as we have a legal responsibility to review the EHCP annually and guidance from DCC about when reviews must take place. Obviously we want to avoid this at all costs as it is such a valuable opportunity to exchange important details concerning your child's education and future.

Autumn Term reviews will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams and the invitation will contain a link to a Teams video meeting. The format of the Review Meeting itself will be largely unchanged, we will follow DCC guidance and cover all areas of Education, Health and Social Care.

If you have any queries about the new system please contact Laura by email or on the school phone number, or contact the 0-25 team. Please bear with us as we all get used to the new system together!
