Dear Parents and Carers,
School is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming holiday and festive period. Whilst not every child copes with the changes, there have been some lovely events where pupils of all ages have come together.
Sally Cregan, our musically talented Deputy Head, took her choir to Seachange in Budleigh, where they sang and entertained one of the groups that uses the community hub. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and Sally thinks this is the first of many visits to SeaChange.
Our Christmas jumper parade took place last week with pupils from classes 1-13 taking part. Lots of our pupils wanted to go back for another shimmy down the catwalk once their go had finished.
And a big thank you to all the parents / carers that joined us for our Christmas celebrations. It was lovely to see so many of you in school.
Wishing you all a lovely festive break.
We are stepping into Christmas
We are fortunate to have received a beautiful Christmas tree donated by Kings Garden Centre, which we have proudly displayed in Reception this year. Some of our students from Class 10 had the chance to go and collect the tree, experiencing first-hand the generosity of our community. A big thank you to Kings Garden Centre for their kindness and support.
Class 5 & 6 had a great time at Cotley Farm. We loved and petting all of the different animals and Christmas scenes and sitting in the sleigh! Some of Class 5 enjoyed finding the hidden letters to make the Christmas word on the Cotley trail, which was Frankincense!
Class 13 had a fun Christmas activity morning with parents and carers who we were all thrilled to see. We explored Christmas sensory trays, used Christmas activities on the interactive floor and opened Christmas tins to find Christmas toys. We had a wonderful time and a big thank you to all the parents and carers who attended.
Class 12 hosted many parents and some grandparents for a Christmas craft afternoon. Pop-up Christmas cards, paper chains and snow flake sun catchers were created by the group during a festive afternoon. Thank you to all who attended.
They also enjoyed a bowling trip out at Ocean Bowl on Wednesday. The pupils had a good time bowling before settling down to some delicious pizzas. The pupils were exceptionally well behaved - a credit to Mill Water school.
Class 10’s Café is open
Class 10 opened their café as a communication session this term where the students in class have been serving pupils from different classes, they've enjoyed setting up a cafe, making menus and signage too.
Music from around the World
Class 9 have been concluding this term's topic of 'Music and musical instruments from around the world' by learning about and listening to music from Australia. They all enjoyed having a go with a didgeridoo and then started to make their own using aboriginal patterns to decorate them.
Christmas Raffle
We would like to extend our appreciation to everyone who contributed to our Christmas raffle, whether by donating prizes or purchasing tickets. Thanks to your generosity, we raised an amazing £671! These funds will be used to provide our incredible pupils with additional resources and activities.
Also, Christmas came early for a pupil in Class 8 who won the top prize, the Nintendo Switch! We’re sure they will have lots of fun and make great use of it. A BIG thank you to Swift Removals, Exmouth for donating this amazing prize.
Thank you once again for your incredible support!
Big Brush Club
The holidays are fast approaching which means it’s that time of year that we’ve been asked to send out this Letter to Parents & Guardians - NHS Supervised Toothbrushing Programme
In the letter there’s information included about new oral health webinars coming up in the new year and you can find lots of useful tips, advice and resources on the Big Brush Club Website
Parent Governor Vacancy
We have a vacancy and would encourage applications from anyone who has a child at the school, this includes parents, carers, step parents, family carers, adoptive parents; as long as you have parental responsibility you can put your name forward.
Governors come from all walks of life but they share a passion for making the school the best it can possibly be. It is a really great way to get to know the school.
If you want to find out more about becoming a Parent Governor, please do contact the Clerk to Governors via email ClerkGB@millwater.devon.sch.uk or call the school on 01395 568890.
