Dear Parents/Carers,
I think it is safe to say we were the last school standing, but we finally made it. Thanks to the support of our school community including parents/carers/governors/PTFA and visitors, we have had another successful year. Across the school we have performed in front of the Mayor, had a visiting MP, heard from a few authors, passed our exams, played at a range of sporting events, visited farms, held giant frogs, learnt to read, walk, swim and ride a bike, walked up steep hills, jumped in puddles, felt the wind in our hair and a whole host of other experiences.
Thank you for every donation, raffle ticket bought, cake baked, WBD costume sewn and for every instance when you have taken the time to thank the staff for their work with your children. It all makes a difference and keeps our school the special place it is to learn and work.
Leavers Event
We enjoyed a joyful leavers assembly on Tuesday, where we celebrated all the best things about our 13 leavers. We wish them every success in their new ventures: including Petroc, Bicton and Oakwood colleges, Southbrook school, social care settings and the world of work. Special mention has to go to George B, who woke up with Chicken pox on his big day. We missed you George, but wish you lots of luck for your new adventure.
Our leavers took away, hoodies, certificates and cups but most of all a lot of happy memories from their years at Mill Water. We will miss each and every one of them.
Class 13 Yoga and Sound
On Monday we had a wonderful visit from Charlie P (Yoga teacher).
Charlie came to lead a Yoga and Sound session with some of Class 13. We learnt some different breathing techniques, some stretches and then listened to and explored some instruments. The singing bowl and chimes were our favourites. The pupils were focussed and engaged for almost an hour. We hope this is a session which can be repeated in the future and that some of the young people may start sessions with Charlie in the next academic year. Beccy J
Fun Wheelchair Training
Summer Holiday 'hang out'
The family of one of our pupils is organising a free summer holiday fun afternoon for young people with special needs and their parents/carers on Tuesday 23rd August at All Saints Church Hall, Sidmouth, from 3-4.30pm.
There will be games, basic refreshments and a bouncy castle.
Support for Families and Young People
If your child needs support with their insoles, footwear, splints or wheelchair during the holidays, please call Exeter Mobility Centre on 01392 547400. The next Orthotic clinic in school will be on the 14th Sept and the wheelchair clinic will be in November/December.
Gill and Janet wish you a lovely summer.
