18th October 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Autumn is well and truly here: and as always it leads to some beautiful art opportunities and welly walking. Don’t forget you can upload your family photos onto EFL for us to discuss in school. We love to hear about your puddle jumping, leaf blowing and windy walks.

Special partnership Trust (SPT)
I would understand if parents/carers think this has gone quiet. I can assure you I am meeting regularly with the DFE, DCC, solicitors and SPT. There is lots going on behind the scenes and we did lose a bit of momentum due to the general election. Legalities such as separation of land issues are always additional complications in these matters, but we still intend to be a member of the trust by January 2025.

Family Hub at Mill Water - we need your views!

You all should have received an email from us recently asking for your help!

We are hoping to set-up a family hub at Mill Water - a new building that will be a classroom during the school day and a meeting place for pupils and their families at weekends and during school holidays. We want the hub to be a place where families impacted by SEND can come together and develop friendships, networks of support and access high quality training. We also want to open up the school grounds and give families access to our play, cycling and PE equipment.

To help us achieve this, we need your views. Please take a moment to complete this survey if you haven’t already. Every response will help us as we apply for funding for the new building.

Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please contact Amelia at fundraising@millwater.devon.sch.uk

Positive Starts

Class 1 have had a fantastic first half term back at school and the new pupils have settled in well. We have seen some great communication with all pupils watching adults model on talkers and some independently making requests for their wants and needs. The pupils have loved exploring our art sessions; exploring paint, cooking sessions; making cakes and biscuits and our out and about sessions to local parks and The World of Country Life as well as exploring our continuous provision in class.

Well done class 1 we are all very proud of you.

Getting Ready For Autumn

Class 4 have been learning about Autumn.  We have all enjoyed throwing leaves into the air and watching them fall. We have also enjoyed joining in with lots of great Autumn songs and made Autumn tree collages. We chose our favourite leaves and practised our sticking skills.

Finances

The rise in the cost of living means that we're all having to dig a little deeper to pay for household essentials such as food and energy.

It's important to make sure you know what support is available. That’s why it’s worth finding out more information about the government’s latest household support scheme
